Tell us about yourself, Simeon:
I have been involved in the illumination of buildings and facades for the last 15 years. I came from an electrical engineering background, during which I discovered a real passion for working with light. I have worked in both the private and public sectors and now run an independent lighting design practice, Designphase Ltd.
When I read about the concept of this event in the January publication of the SLL newsletter, I felt enthused about such a great opportunity to promote being creative with light, across the UK.
Can you tell us about your NoHL site?
I was really pleased to be allocated the Ironbridge scheme as I grew up just 20 minutes’ drive away. Coming from a family of engineers, a day trip out to this amazing structure and the surrounding works would feed an appetite for design, innovation and construction.
With the support of LITE Ltd we plan to light the iron structure with a range of colour changeable LED products, providing a full width panoramic of the bridge. We also want to highlight the apex of this construction to bring out the central artistic detail and allow people to search for the famous silhouette of Abraham Darby
